Welcome to use the electronic grant system for the Paavo Nurmi Foundation.


The Paavo Nurmi Foundation awards grants for cardiovascular research in Finland. For 2015, grants may be awarded for projects related to these purposes, on the following conditions:

  1. At its discretion, the Foundation may award a two-year major grant (50 000 euros/year) for an especially distinguished project that supports the purposes and intentions of the Foundation.
  2. Grants of 4 000 – 4 500 euros/month may be awarded to senior (MD/Docent) clinical researchers, allowing them to concentrate on research assignments full-time (as leave of absence from their own paid work) for 2 – 6 months
  3. Grants of 11 000 – 22 000 euros may be awarded to younger researchers working on their doctoral thesis, allowing them to concentrate on research assignments full-time for 6 – 12 months. Grants are not awarded to people in funded positions.
  4. Additionally, travel grants may be awarded for medical congresses. In order to apply for the grant, the applicant must hold a scientific presentation at the congress (oral or poster).

All grant applications must include a CV and list of publications. Grant applications for the purposes set out in sections 1-3 must include a research plan with a maximum length of 5 pages (line spacing 1, font size 12). Applications for travel grants (section 4) should include an estimate of costs (travel, accommodation, conference fees) and a conference proposal abstract which the applicant has either already sent or will send to the conference in question.

The application period for Paavo Nurmi Foundation grants is 1.9.2015 - 30.9.2015.
